SOS Speaking Rescue · A2–B1

Mondhatod ezt: It’s something you use to keep dry when it rains.

Többféle jó megfogalmazás is lehetséges.

1 · Eszköztár

Három fordulat, amire építhetsz

It’s a kind of…

Egyfajta… — nevezd meg a tágabb kategóriát.

It’s a kind of bag you carry on your back.

backpack — hátizsák

It’s something you use to…

Olyasmi, amit arra használsz, hogy… — mondd el, mire való.

It’s something you use to open a bottle of wine.

corkscrew — dugóhúzó

It’s a place where…

Egy hely, ahol… — mondd el, mit lehet ott csinálni.

It’s a place where you can buy medicine.

pharmacy — gyógyszertár

A to után az ige alapalakját használd: to open, to charge, to cut. A where után egy kis mondat következik: where you buy medicine.

2 · Ismerd fel

What is it?

Read the descriptions. Say what you think each one is. You can answer in English or Hungarian if you don’t know the English word yet.

  1. It’s something you use to charge your phone.
  2. It’s a place where you can borrow books.
  3. It’s a kind of machine that washes your plates and cups.
  4. It’s something you use to dry your hair.
Check your answers
  1. A charger — töltő.
  2. A library — könyvtár. A bookshop is a place where you buy books.
  3. A dishwasher — mosogatógép.
  4. A hairdryer — hajszárító.

Choose a phrase. Add a detail.

Describe each item using one of the three phrases. Say a complete sentence. Then add one extra detail to help the listener.

  1. A kettle. Think: water, tea or coffee.
  2. A bakery. Think: bread, buying food.
  3. A suitcase. Think: a bag, clothes, travelling.
Need a starting point?

It’s something you use to… / It’s a place where… / It’s a kind of…
You usually… / It often has… / You take it…

See possible answers
  • It’s something you use to boil water. You usually use it to make tea or coffee.
  • It’s a place where you can buy bread. You can often buy cakes there too.
  • It’s a kind of bag you take on holiday. You put your clothes in it, and it often has wheels.

Keep the conversation going.

Imagine you don’t know the word in bold. Explain what you need without using it. Start with the sentence given.

At a hotel: a charger

Your phone battery is almost empty. Ask the receptionist for a charger.

Excuse me, do you have…?

Show a possible answer

Excuse me, do you have something I can use to charge my phone? My battery is almost empty.

A fordulatot a kérdéshez igazítottuk: something I can use to…

In a friend’s kitchen: a colander

The pasta is ready. You need a colander to drain it. Ask your friend where it is.

Where’s the thing…?

Show a possible answer

Where’s the thing you use to drain pasta? It looks like a bowl with lots of small holes.

A the thing you use to… természetes, hétköznapi fordulat, amikor nem tudod vagy nem találod egy tárgy nevét.

In a new town: a pharmacy

You need some medicine. Ask someone where you can buy it.

Excuse me, is there a place…?

Show a possible answer

Excuse me, is there a place near here where I can buy medicine? I need something for a headache.

5 · Önálló beszéd

Your turn.

Choose three everyday things around you. Describe each one aloud without saying its name. Say what it is, what you use it for, and one extra detail.

For example, choose a remote control, a mirror or a wallet. Use your own words first.

See example descriptions
  • Remote control: It’s something you use to change the channel on your TV. It has lots of buttons.
  • Mirror: It’s something you use to see your face. There’s usually one in the bathroom.
  • Wallet: It’s a kind of small bag you keep your money and cards in. You can carry it in your pocket.
Make it personal

Think of a word you couldn’t remember in a real conversation. How could you explain it now? Say your new version aloud.

Before you finish

  • Did you keep speaking instead of stopping at one missing word?
  • Did you explain what the thing is or what it does?
  • Did you add a detail that helped the listener?

Gyakorolnád valódi beszélgetésben is?
